When I was first introduced to healing through vibrational sound therapy, I was in awe. This concept was so new to me and I was intrigued! And let me back up...I grew up skeptical and questioned or dismissed things that were too far fetched or "woo-woo" but I was learning about this in a college setting, through research and studying actual cases where patients benefited from sound healing therapy so my skeptical brain was getting the logical (logical??) information I needed.
My journey with sound healing began by learning about frequencies and how sound effects our mind and body. As someone who had a regular mediatation practice, this was a fantastic way to deepen my practice and really go deeper into my subconscious mind.
When attending a sound bath or sound healing session, the frequencies in which instruments are played are set at specific frequencies that have been proven to promote healing, happiness and vitalitiy. Sound has been used as a healing modality for centuries and is done with the use of gongs, drums, bowls (Tibetan & crystal), tuning forks, chanting, chimes, and so many other instruments. I have had clients experience strong emotions during their sessions as it can release energy blocks in the body and this is a welcome experience where you are supported if needed.
Some ways you will feel the benefits of sound healing is by sleeping better, feeling less anxious and stressed. A calm demeanor is often reported to me after a session and people generally have more patience and show more compassion and kindness towards others in the days following a session.
